American politics
Its very hard to like politicians when you have seen one of worst of them. In India, most hated bunch of people are politicians. Most of them are shameless, corrupt, immoral, unethical. Then when i came to USA, initially i liked the political system here for its transparency and apparant honesty. But it seems that was just an 1st superficial impression only. Now after having been here for 4-5 years, i find politicians here as disgusting as the those we have in India. The politicians are of same genes all over the board. Take it India, USA, UK or any other country. The only difference is that our politicians are little on rustic side and the ones here are more sophisticated bunch of rougues. Here are few issues which have bad smell of politics all over it.
1) Illegal Immigration: After 9/11, it has become really difficult to get a Visa (student/work/any other type) to USA. At all the airports around the world, there are special scrutiny of passengers travelling to USA. At airports they even take fingure prints and eye scans. All this is really good considering the safety of the people. And this gives an impression that government here really cares about its people. Hell NO !!.. this is just an eye wash. Look what's happening on the south border of USA. Approx. 3 million people are crossing over illegally into this country every year. Only 3% of the total people coming into US are with proper documents. Think again!! Do the government here really cares?... No way. They are just busy protecting their vote bank and sources of funding. Just consider, if even 0.001% (3000) of the people crossing into US are coming in with not so benign intentions, how does this government wishes to stop another 9/11. It seems they are just wishing that some miracle will protect them. Or may be they think that let another attack happen and then of course, they can blame someone for that and attack them. And a war of course will ensure 4 more years for even a fool in office.
Bush has been talking about freedom, security and what not, but when border security forces requested an increase in number of deputies, only 10% increase was sanctioned by Mr freedom protector. How can people here be so stupid and just get manipulated by these cunningly smart people in Washington. If something similar is happening in India, i could understand, as we still have 30-40% illitracy rate and 40% people under poverty line.
2) Gun control: There have been enough shooting incidents here in US to warrant a total ban on firearms. Every politician would say that guns should be banned to proctect our family. But surprisingly nothing happens. Why?... Because their pockets are kept warm by gun makers. What the hell these politicians care if some 10-12 school children die every 2-3 years, they are just interested in keeping gun makers happy at any cost. Because??... this is good for economy!! This is height of capitalism. They give reasons of protecting life and families while banning or discouraging use of condoms, but where do these values go when it comes to guns? Even in my country which is far less affulent then US, we have gun control laws and you can't just buy anything in neighbourhood gun store.
In conclusion, i am not a citizen of this country, but i feel bad as an human being, that the best of best (atleast thats what people used to think of US as), has problems aplenty. And most of them are not caused by external sources but, by some super civilized scoundrels of the most civil society of the world.
